Description

Position: Polymer Extrusion Technician. Location: Roscommon. Salary: Top Rates. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will manage and run extrusion trials and develop extrusion process for new product /product iterations and new technology to demonstrate capability and key performance metrics. The key responsibilities include the identification, specification, introduction, management and validation of new equipment and technologies in the extrusion area, providing technical input and leadership on problem solving, resolution of technical processing issues and implementation of process improvements in the extrusion department. Other responsibilities of the role include product line support for extrusion, documentation of extrusion equipment and processes, validation of extrusion product/technology and process, control of new product/process/technology introductions or changes and maintaining records in accordance with the quality system to the requirements of ISO 13485 and FDA21CFR. They will be required to continue to attain technical expertise in extrusion technologies and materials and communicate and train extrusion personnel in the knowledge. A key role will also be support for development of new business which will include liaison with sales and customers on product and process development including costing analysis, feasibility studies, project time lines and technical capability. The candidate will work with suppliers to identify and understand advancements in the market. The candidate will also be responsible for leading improvement initiatives including investigation, trouble shooting, driving effective determination of root cause and championing a structured approach to problem solving using lean tools and 6 sigma principles. The candidate will require technical aptitude, strong extrusion and polymer experience including the development of complex multi-lumen and multi-layer extrusion processes and introduction of new extrusion lines/equipment. Good organizational, communication, analytical, and excellent problem solving skills are also required. The successful candidate will be an energetic individual, well organized, self-motivated with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and motivate others. The successful candidate should have primary degree in Engineering, or Polymer Science, with a minimum of 5 years of extrusion process development experience and min 3 yrs medical device experience. Experience of over the wire, tapered or bump extrusion processes would be a distinct advantage.
